Egypt Hiking: Following the Water in Wadi Nabea
Duration: 3-4 hoursTour Overview
Embark on an unforgettable desert adventure where the landscape is far more than just sand! Discover how vibrant greenery thrives against the odds in this challenging terrain.
Our journey kicks off with a scenic drive into the mountains, leading us to the starting point of our trail at Shaq el Shallal. The path begins gently as we climb through “The Crack” – a rocky passage where nature’s artistry is on full display.
As we go higher, we’re rewarded with a stunning panoramic view, stretching across towering peaks, including the striking Black Egla and Red Egla mountains. From this incredible vantage point, we descend into the enchanting Wadi El Waha, where the barren desert gives way to a surprising burst of greenery.
Here, water has carved its way through the land, allowing trees and plants to flourish. By the time we reach the valley’s end, we step into an unexpected oasis – a lush grass field in the heart of the desert. We finish this extraordinary trek by enjoying some traditional Bedouin hospitality as we sip tea and soak in the serenity before our drive back to the lodge.
This is more than a walk—it’s a journey through the hidden wonders of the desert!

FAQ
Is there a minimum/maximum number of people needed for the trip to take place?
There is no minimum number of participants but there is a 50% supplement if only one person is on the trip.
Should I leave a minimum amount of time between diving and hiking?
So long as you are not overtired the answer to this is, no. We have consulted with DAN - the Divers Alert Network – who are at the forefront of dive medicine. Their advice is to wait 24 hours after a dive before going above 2,000ft/600m. There are no restrictions below this height which means our trips should cause no problems as the maximum climb is 1,300ft/400m.
Do I need a certain level of fitness to take part?
You should be moderately fit and be able to walk on uneven terrain without aid.
Will I be accompanied by a guide at all times?
Yes. Each tour is led by a group leader who will escort you through the entirety of the trip.
