Egypt Hiking: Shagra’s Secluded Trails and Panoramic Views

Duration: 8-9 hours
Starting from EUR 119

Tour Overview

Before the first light of day touches the sand, we set off on an epic trek into the heart of Egypt’s Eastern Desert for a journey of awe-inspiring views and true adventure.

A pre-dawn drive to Wadi Shagra gets us started before, as the sky begins to glow, we hit the trail. Gravel paths gradually give way to rocky ascents and, with every step, the landscape unfolds around us: jagged peaks, wide-open valleys, and a sense of wilderness that’s both humbling and exhilarating.

Reaching a breathtaking viewpoint over Wadi Breika, we pause to soak in the vastness of the land before descending to the valley floor. Here we are welcomed with Bedouin tea and warm, freshly-baked bread – perfect fuel for the adventure ahead.

Depending on your group’s energy and pace, we have options: either challenge yourselves with a nearby peak climb or follow the winding wadi to Moustafa’s tent, where a well-deserved lunch and peaceful rest await in a traditional Bedouin setting.

Recharged and ready, we continue our journey through a series of scenic wadis, navigating natural rock formations and changing landscapes that keep every step interesting.

As the day winds down, we arrive at Saad’s tent for one final tea break, taking in the last views of this wild and ancient land before the ride back home to beautiful Wadi Sabarah.

FAQ

Is there a minimum/maximum number of people needed for the trip to take place?
There is no minimum number of participants but there is a 50% supplement if only one person is on the trip

Should I leave a minimum amount of time between diving and hiking?
So long as you are not overtired the answer to this is, no. We have consulted with DAN - the Divers Alert Network – who are at the forefront of dive medicine. Their advice is to wait 24 hours after a dive before going above 2,000ft/600m. There are no restrictions below this height which means our trips should cause no problems as the maximum climb is 1,300ft/400m.

Do I need a certain level of fitness to take part?
You should be moderately fit and be able to walk on uneven terrain without aid.

Will I be accompanied by a guide at all times?
Yes. Each tour is led by a group leader who will escort you through the entirety of the trip.
